holy football

so i am not the biggest football fan in the world and i am really not a huge fan of football fans as a whole. nevertheless, that did not stop be from traveling to football fan mecca with my associate mr. lintern. green bay, wi and the frozen tundra known as lambeau field was the destination. we traveled up to milwaukee by air and then took a bus to madison to meet up with none other then ms. katie weid, long time friend from university of colorado, all of our alma mater.
at any rate, a friday night in madison, was followed by a weekend of cheese and football in green bay. even for a fair weather fan like myself, this was quite the unique experience and something that i was stoked to be able to do. for those who don't know lambeau field is sold out for the next million years, the city of green bay lives and dies for the packers and everyone has a great time. big thanks to katie for making it happen and to her folks, chris and big jer for being awesome. biggest thanks to big jer for giving us a ride to and from the strip club...
enjoy the pics

red bull cola

had my first red bull cola... pretty good, very colaie, full of all sorts of natural stuff including coca leaf... yeah the same stuff uncle pablo made his money off of... ok, so you have to do some other stuff to it to make it that, but it is fun to say...

give it a whirl, if you are into cola you'll dig it... i think i will stick to regular sugar free stuff...

happy movember!

so in honor of movember(november, national moustache month), i have taken it upon myself to grow a moustache. in growing it i realized what a persons facial hair said about them... see below please.

the beard-
can go several different ways for me, but what comes to mind first is... i am an earthy guy, i shop at whole foods, i play the guitar in my free time, life is pretty good.

the goatee-
this says one thing to me... damn why couldn't i have been around seattle in the early 90's, (please note the flannel), i love starbucks and i love mudhoney, the early stuff.

ahh, this one-
i live in brooklyn, possibly williamsburg although it is getting way too packed with lame posers, i ride a fix gear and i think i am better then you.

and finally...

this one says i am headed to green bay, wi this weekend to watch the chicago bears play the green bay packers in a football game loaded up with miller and cheese curd.

it also says... happy movember!

i gave my car for a heli trip

sorting through older photos found these from the n*east magazine heli trip. this was the trip that i totaled my car on the way. somewhere along the line and computers of the past, i have lost the photos of my car head first into a tree, too bad. however, i still have all the trip photos and that is a good thing. they ran in the article "to heli and back" in one of the magazines last issues. even though the magazine owed me a grip of cash, i still get sad when i think about it... the magazine not the money.
at any rate, here are a few pics that did not run. enjoy, and if given the chance, i would suggest trading your car for a week of BC heli time... i am pretty sure it might have been worth it.

when PBR is just too damn classy...

fun with balut

i am a big fan of the travel network. they have a lot of great shows with great hosts and it is all about a subject i enjoy... traveling. one of my personal favorite shows is bizarre foods with andrew zimmern. for those who have never tuned in, the show is nothing more then cameras following a funny little chef around the world while he eats the most unusual, or bizarre as the case may be, foods. it is good fun, they always go to interesting places and each episode is usually worth at least one good gross out. at any rate, one of the things old andrew indulged in while in asia was something call balut. balut is the name given to fertilized eggs, in this case duck eggs. apparently as common of a snack as pretzels in some places, the balut is essentially a hard boiled egg with a baby duck instead of a yoke. fast forward to the photos below, a trip to the asian market here in cleveland and a misconception that a prerequisite for being balut was being hard boiled...

and yes that is an eye and a beak you are looking at... remember, being balut does not have anything to do with being hard boiled.

happy friday- hot dog the movie, act like you know

so this might be the most extremist of the extreme... hot dog the movie, one of my personal favorites, possibly even the reason i moved to tahoe in '02...
enjoy!

mission accomplished

i don't have any good words to describe what happened last night. for the first time in a long time, i am excited in the direction we as a country are headed. this is just the first step in that direction, but it feels real good. i said before how good it was to see all the folks voting in my neighborhood, but it was even better to find out they were doing it all over, from the city to the country, people were making their voice heard and that is awesome! mr. obama it is your ship, steer it well!

GO VOTE!

if you are a us citizen and you have not, get out and go vote today! a three hour wait is nothing compared to 4 years of poor leadership... think about it.
after voting, go somewhere nice and watch your favorite news channel play with that red and blue map.

canon g9

so i got myself a new camera this weekend. i have been wanting something a little smaller to carry here and there and not worry about. but i also still wanted to be able to feel like i was getting artsy and whatnot with my own settings and some other features i have become very use to with the mark II. i was waiting on the new canon g10 but after seeing this from trevor graves who i can give enough respect to...

Canon G10 review - New but not improved from Dave Allen on Vimeo.

i decided to go with the g9. sure it is older, but the great news is, you can get them on the cheap.

so, now i have a new toy to learn about and hopefully i will have even more pics that i will feel necessary to share with everyone...

oh p.s., you can buy the camera in the video right HERE, all the money goes to boarding for breast cancer, so it is a win-win...
