shane

like finding out superman has died... i got word today that shane mcconkey had passed away. shane was an amazing skier, BASE jumper and most importantly human being. he was one of the reasons i moved to tahoe and took a lot of the paths i took, i am sure there are many out there just like me. my best wishes to his family.

this is...

my favorite pic from the ca trip. not sure why, just like it a lot.

i'm excited...

i hope you are too.

ca, palm trees, castles and self portraits

in california right now, little vacation time. drove up the coast from la to san fran yesterday. stopped and saw the sights, enjoyed the sun, visited the hearst castle and treated myself to an all around california coast experience.

the mighty pacific, is that an oxymoron?

the pool at the hearst castle... you too could have something like this if you sell a few newspapers.

a must have at any castle... a creepy baby

and a creepy lady! this was in his personal movie theater.

tiles in the indoor pool

seals do two things all day, throw sand on themselves...

and bark at each other... what a good life

as promised in the title... a quick self portrait in a guest room of the castle.

g9

my g9 shit the proverbial bed last weekend, it was a long weekend for gear as my strobe head also met an untimely death. i felt bad for myself until i went to the camera shop and saw a guy who's entire set up had been stolen. he was last ditch efforting trying to see if anyone had brought it into the camera shop to sell it... i feel bad for feeling better because of someones else's loss, but i never said i was a good person. at any rate the strobe and g9 are in intensive care right now, hopefully they will make it out alright without costing me an arm and/or a leg.

the end of the earth... well just the end of michigan

road trip to the up of michigan this weekend... lots of driving... its a long way up to the up. tons of snow, tons of rails, not tons of time. we tried to do what we could, but in the end the most memorable thing for me was breaking my strobe thanks to a stiff breeze. not to be a total debbie downer, we did get a few shots and it is always a fun time to get on the road and go somewhere new to shoot.

relaxing in the up

male model cameron strand

just looking

this was the last flash from the strobe before the wind did what it does

while you guys shovel, i am just going to take some pictures

nothing like setting up a rail right in front of the cop shop... up cops are awesome, that is no joke.

wtf friday #9... on monday

sorry i am a bit late, been on the road without the internets... but here is another gem from the guys at cranmore, they know fun parks and fun youtube clips over there...

cranmore!

headed up to the north country of new hampshire to visit my friends at cranmore. as per usual had a total blast shooting photos and hanging out with the crew there. tons of fun and the mountain is a blast. kinda gets overlooked a lot, but is a great time and a must ride/ski if you are in the area. jess and her crew of darkside misfits have things pretty fun in the park and the trails and woods are a treat especially with the amount of snow the east has received this season.
at any rate, here are a few pics. none of the good stuff, you will have to visit cranmore next season to see those...
seth killing it in the air

a little evening wall ride session, these photos were my favorite. just a little hiking here.

just relax fellas

barber lifestyle, if you could go pro on lifestyle shots alone...

quick side note, one of the photos i took last year for the cranmore shoot wound up being the cover of the employee handbook for all booth creek resorts... kinda funny, during my time working for booth creek i don't think i was ever the model employee, nor did i ever open my employee handbook. nevertheless it is good to know i can capture what a model employee should look like...
